Machine-placed, laser-guided floor slabs on Vancouver Island. Large single pours, fewer joints, and a flatness result a hand screed cannot hold at scale.
How it works
A rotating laser is set up on the slab and defines the finished plane. The screed head reads that plane continuously and adjusts itself as the machine moves, so grade comes from the laser instead of from wet screed rails set by hand.
Because the machine carries its own reference, it can strike off a wide strip in a single pass. That means fewer construction joints in the finished floor, far less hand screeding, and a consistent surface across the whole placement rather than one that drifts between rail settings.
The practical result on a warehouse floor is a slab that meets its specified flatness, gets placed in one shift instead of several, and hands over to the racking installer without remedial grinding.

Wide strip placement removes construction joints that would otherwise be designed in every 20 to 25 feet. Fewer joints means fewer maintenance points for the building owner.

A placement that takes a hand crew several days closes in one. That pulls the whole follow-on sequence — racking, mechanical, occupancy — forward on the schedule.
Repeatable flatness
The tolerance is held by the machine, not by how tired the crew is at the far end of the pour.
